To support North Carolina licensee’s efforts to
prepare for impending new regulatory requirements associated with
security enhancements, the Agency is recommending that licensees
review this document, specifically "Action 6.1 / Fingerprinting
Provisions of EPAct"
While no specific details are currently
available and no licensee actions are required at this time,
it is probable that additional security enhancements will soon be
required of certain licensees*. As outlined in the above reference,
these enhancements will most likely include specific finger printing
requirements. There is currently a NRC/Agreement State working group
finalizing the requirements and developing guidance for proper
communication of such requirements and implementation strategies.
Once the requirements are fully known and
authorization is given, the Agency will relay the details to
licensees (most likely by an administrative license condition).
This action is anticipated to take place in Fall, 2007.
The agency does not know the exact time for implementation of this
requirement.
*It
is anticipated these new requirements will affect only current and
future licensees possessing material which qualifies them for
Increased Security Control enhancements.
