15A NCAC 11 .0202 EXEMPTIONS (a) Electronic equipment that produces radiation incidental to its operation for other purposes is exempt from the registration and notification requirements of this Section provided that the dose equivalent rate average over an area of ten square centimeters does not exceed 0.5 mrem per hour at five centimeters from any accessible surface of the equipment when any external shielding is removed. The production, testing, or factory servicing of such equipment are not exempt. (b) Radiation machines while in transit or storage incident thereto are exempt from the requirements of this Section. (c) Domestic television receivers are exempt from the requirements of this Section.
